How I use AI as my personal CEO coach

If you really want to get ahead, the game-changer is turning AI into your personal strategic advisor.

Most CEOs I talk to use AI tools (like GPT or Gemini) for simple stuff: writing emails, translating documents, or doing quick research. That’s useful - but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

If you really want to get ahead, the game-changer is turning AI into your personal strategic advisor. Here’s my 5-step system, inspired by Sam Parr from the My First Million podcast — and fully tested in my own day-to-day as a founder and investor.

STEP 0: Create Your Own Custom GPT or Gemini

Don’t just use the default AI. Create your own Custom GPT or Custom Gemini with instructions tailored to your needs.

Example: “You are my strategic advisor. You give short, practical advice, rooted in business strategy, psychology, and leadership best practices.”

Pro tip: Gemini has a much bigger context window, so I use it.

STEP 1: Write One File That Explains Who You Are

Spend an hour and create a file called something like: Personal Info for AI. This is your “onboarding doc” for your AI advisor.

Include:

  • Your background and career
  • Mission and vision
  • Your top goals (personal + business)
  • Your values and strengths
  • Life and financial situation
  • Health, relationships, and anything that matters to your decisions

The more your AI knows about you, the better advice it will give.

STEP 2: Let AI Interview You

Flip the script.

Ask the AI:

“You are my business coach. What questions do you need to ask to understand me fully?”

Let it generate a list. Then take another hour to answer each question in detail. This gives your AI deep context about how you think, work, and grow.

STEP 3: Get Outside Feedback

Self-awareness is powerful - but even stronger when it includes other people’s views.

I used a method called Reflected Best Self. It’s simple:
Send a short anonymous form to 5–10 people you trust. Just two questions:

  1. What are my 3 biggest strengths?
  2. What are my 3 biggest weaknesses?

Upload the answers into your AI. Now it knows what others see in you - not just what you think.

STEP 4: Feed the Model Your Real Data

Good advice needs real context. I regularly upload key data into my system, including:

  • Business: Company metrics, KPIs, goals, dashboards
  • Personal: My fears, priorities, life goals
  • Health: Recent test results, training routines, mental energy

This way, AI can help with big-picture decisions across all areas of life.

STEP 5: Define the AI’s Role Clearly

Finally, go into the AI settings and set its "personality" with a Custom Instruction. Here's an example:

“You are my strategic thinking partner. Your job is to help me gain clarity and make real progress. You know a lot about business, psychology, and leadership. Your advice is always short, smart, and useful.”

With this setup, AI becomes a true thinking partner - not just a chatbot.

I truly believe this is the future of leadership.
An always-on, context-aware, no-BS advisor - built around you.
